Product Offerings: Our selection features a variety of homemade and shelf-stable goods prepared directly from our kitchen, including breads, jams, jellies, spices, dried herbs, vegetables, pickles, pickled vegetables, salsas, and vinegars.
Home Kitchen Exemption: In compliance with Virginia Code § 3.2-5130, our kitchen goods are prepared in a private home kitchen that is not subject to routine state health inspections or commercial licensing regulations. They are processed and prepared without state inspection and are not for resale. We take rigorous food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness steps during preparation, baking, and packaging to ensure the highest quality.
Acidified Products & Compliance: Certain items we offer, such as our pickles, pickled vegetables, salsas, and vinegars, fall under Virginia's classification for acidified foods and follow that exemption's extra rules. Per state guidelines, these specific recipes are strictly formulated, tested, and maintained to achieve an equilibrium pH of 4.6 or lower. Gross annual sales for our acidified product lines are closely tracked and maintained under the state's $9,000 statutory limit per producer.
What We Do Not Make: To strictly follow state laws and maintain safety, our kitchen does not produce or offer potentially hazardous items requiring time or temperature control. This means we do not sell meat, poultry, seafood, dairy-based frostings, custards, or low-acid canned goods (such as home-canned low-acid vegetables, soups, or un-acidified oils infused with garlic or herbs).
